I'm wondering if there's any way to reduce the size of your video podcasts: my connection is not super slow, but the size of your podcasts makes viewing them an hour or more investment in downloading.

Hi Moshe,

When we look at the number of people downloading our podcasts, it's a very small percentage of customers that download the podcasts directly from the WoodworkingOnline.com website. The majority of our customers access our "feed" via iTunes.

We agree that BitTorrent is a very cool and dynamic technology. But unfortunately, BitTorrent does not work with iTunes. So, implementing it would only benefit the small group of people that actually download the podcasts directly from the website. And, to take it a step further, of those people that do download the files directly, it's our feeling that only a very small percentage of those people would actually use BitTorrent to access our files.

So, while we agree that the technology would be a neat addition, we're focusing our resources elsewhere to try and make things work as well as possible for the most people.

Thanks again for the suggestion....being an I.T. guy, I love trying new things. So, please don't hesitate to offer up any more suggestions. We may not always be able to accomodate you, but we'll certainly listen and entertain the ideas.

All the best,

You might want to consider distributing it through BitTorrent servers, it will take a huge load off your servers, and will enable faster downloads for users.
