Tips from Our Shop

In 2004, Woodsmith magazine expanded to 52 pages, adding several new departments and features to the magazine. That’s 52 pages of woodworking content — and no advertising. Instead, you’ll find lots of step-by-step project plans and how-to departments with information on tools, jigs and accessories, suggestions for setting up shop, and helpful hints on finishing.

You’ll also find two familiar, old departments — “Tips and Techniques” and “Tips from our Shop.” There’s almost always more than one way to do a job, and both departments are usually full of good information. These “tips” departments are normally rated among Woodsmith subscribers favorites.

Not surprisingly, over 55,000 people opt-in each week to receive a free, weekly woodworking tip or technique at WoodNet.net. Once you sign up, every Friday morning you can expect to find helpful woodworking hints like this one from Woodsmith: Roller Stand Brace, in you mailbox.

Tips from Woodsmith appear on a rotating basis along with tips from Workbench and ShopNotes magazines. They usually contain one or two pieces of concise art or a photograph to help get the point across. If you’re interested in more, check out WoodNet.net. There’s even a woodworking tips blog: WoodworkingTips.com.
